　　British people love to drink tea! If you ever visit Great Britain you will definitely be offered a cup of tea. We love tea in the morning, on a break at work, with our afternoon snack or last thing at night. British people drink tea with (or without) milk, sugar or lemon. Let’s take a look at the reason why the cup of tea is such an important part of British culture.

　　英國(guó)人喜歡喝茶。如果你曾經(jīng)去過(guò)英國(guó)，那么你也一定試過(guò)茶。我們喜歡早上來(lái)一杯，工作休息來(lái)一杯，下午茶，晚上也會(huì)喝。英國(guó)的茶里有牛奶，糖和檸檬。我們來(lái)看看為什么這杯茶在英國(guó)文化中這么重要。

　　Tea actually started its life in China. Legend has it that a Chinese Emperor invented tea nearly 5000 years ago when some leaves from a tree he was sitting under blew into the boiling water he was drinking! Tea didn't arrive in great Britain until the 17th century (1600-1699). During this time tea became a fashionable drink for British Royalty and the upper classes.

　　However it wasn't until the late 1700s that tea became affordable and everyone could enjoy a cuppa! Since that time tea has been a much loved British icon.

　　茶其實(shí)源于中國(guó)。傳說(shuō)是在五千年前一位中國(guó)皇帝坐在茶樹(shù)下煮開(kāi)水的時(shí)候，有幾片葉子飄進(jìn)了水里，正巧他還喝上了。在17世紀(jì)(1600-1699)的時(shí)候才傳入英國(guó)。這段時(shí)間，茶成為了英國(guó)皇家和上層人士流行飲品。

　　但是十八世紀(jì)后期才開(kāi)始為大眾所接收，并且每個(gè)人都享受一杯茶。從那時(shí)候開(kāi)始，這才成為了英國(guó)象征。

　　Having afternoon tea is a popular British tradition. At some point between lunch and dinner British people will sit down and have a nice cup of tea, usually with a cake, biscuit or scone.

　　午后來(lái)一杯茶已經(jīng)是英國(guó)人的傳統(tǒng)了。在午餐和晚餐之間的時(shí)間，人們會(huì)坐下來(lái)喝一杯茶，一般還配上些蛋糕點(diǎn)心之類(lèi)的東西。

　　Many people love to make tea in a teapot and drink it from a cup and saucer (see photo above), but others prefer a big mug (see photo below) of tea. Tea in a teapot is usually made with loose leaf tea whereas tea in a mug is usually made with a teabag.

　　很多人喜歡直接在茶壺里面泡茶，然后倒入杯中飲用。但是也有一些喜歡大杯茶。(就是我們的茶道和牛飲的區(qū)別么?)那種在茶壺里面泡的茶一般用的是葉片大的茶葉，而用大茶杯喝的呢放的是茶包。
